Karnataka B.tech Admission 2024-Counselling, Entrance Exams, Eligibility Criteria

The scope of KEA is conducting B.Tech admissions for government and private engineering colleges across the state. COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges – Karnataka) also conducts the centralised admission process for 190 private engineering colleges in Karnataka. The B.Tech admission process in Karnataka began in March and April of 2024. The 2 main conducting authorities for engineering exams in Karnataka are KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) and COMEDK (Consortium for Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges – Karnataka), and the exams are KCET and COMEDK respectively.

Counselling

Candidates when getting the result of the entrance examination and get the score or rank card of the exam, they can apply for counseling thru the online or the offline mode.

  • The Counselling Board will ask the candidates to show the rank card of the entrance examination and all the certificates of the educational qualifications also.
  • In the last, the counseling authority will take the decision about the appropriate college or engineering institute which candidates will be eligible to take the admission in.
  • Candidates have to complete the admission process of the respective college after the completion of the counseling

Entrance Exams Accepted by Karnataka Engineering Colleges 2024

  • KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)
  • JEE Main was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Only private engineering colleges and deemed universities (private) across the state consider JEE Main score for B.Tech admission.
  • COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges – Karnataka on behalf of Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association. COMEDK UGET is applicable for B.Tech admission in 190 private engineering colleges across the state.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admission in Karnataka 2024

  • Karnataka B.Tech applicants must have passed PUC (Class 12) with at least 45% of marks.
  • The applicants must have studied Class 12 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science as the main subjects.
  • The applicants must have a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET or JEE Main score to secure B.Tech admission in Karnataka.
