Marriage
Mridula and Pankaj first crossed paths when she was in class nine, and Pankaj was in class eleven. The moment Pankaj fell deeply in love with Mridula is etched in his memory, and he often recalls it vividly. This special connection was acknowledged by Pankaj in a ScoopWhoop interview, where he admitted to falling in love with Mridula in 1993, during his sister’s wedding.
During their early meetings, the social norms of that time made it challenging for couples to interact freely. Despite this, Pankaj and Mridula found ways to connect whenever he visited his sister once every five months. Their time together was precious, and they would engage in lengthy conversations, building a bond that went beyond the limitations of that era.
Eight years after their first encounter, Mridula’s father began the search for an ideal groom for her. Interestingly, it was Pankaj who accompanied Mridula’s brother to the wedding. Pankaj reassured Mridula that their relationship was the perfect match, promising her a happy and comfortable life upon his return. However, Mridula sensed that something valuable was missing from her life at that moment.
Around the same time, Pankaj enrolled in the National School of Drama (NSD), and Mridula devised a plan to decline the marriage proposal. Despite the geographical distance between them, Mridula wanted to communicate her decision to Pankaj, facing the challenge of being in different locations, both in Delhi.
