The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force. The exam is held twice a year in February and August/September, respectively, to select Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). AFCAT is a gateway for both male and female candidates who wish to join the Indian Air Force for both Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical roles. AFCAT Candidate Login Process

  • First candidates need to go to the Indian Air Force official portal, i.e., https://afcat.cdac.in/AFCAT/
  • There you can find the “AFCAT Candidate Login” tab
  • Aspirants can fill in the details like Email ID, Password, Captcha fields
  • After that, click on the “Log In” button.

Once the registration window opens, aspirants can follow these steps to apply:

Step 1: Visit the official website  –afcat.cdac.in
Step 2: On the homepage, go to the candidates’ login tab and click on AFCAT 02/2024 link
Step 3: Click on ‘New registration’ on the page and fill in all the required details
Step 4: Submit the information and save the registered id and password
Step 5: Use the credentials to log in and fill in the application form
Step 6: Pay the fee and submit the form. Download a copy of the form for future reference

Admit Card

IAF is expected to release the AFCAT 2 2024 admit card on the official website tentatively by the first week of August 2024. Candidates will be able to download AFCAT (2) admit card 2024through their AFCAT login and password. After downloading AFCAT admit card 2024, candidates must check all the details mentioned in it.

Selection Process:

The selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in the AFCAT written examination, the officer’s intelligence rating test and picture perception and discussion test, psychological test group tests, and interview.

AFCAT Exam 2024: Important points to note

  • AFCAT Exam 2024 is scheduled to be held on 20 February (Saturday)and 21 February (Sunday) in two shifts
  • Candidates should report at 8 am and 12:30 pm respectively
  • It is to be noted that IAF EKT Exam will be held from 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm only
  • The candidates should carry their AFCAT 1 Admit Card along with valid ID proof.

FCAT Exam Pattern 2024

  • The question paper is available in the English language only.
  • The duration of the exam isof2 hours (120 minutes).
  • A total number of 100 questions is asked in the written test.
  • Correct answer:+3 marks and Incorrect answer: 1 mark.
  • No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.

For AFCAT

  • Sections covered: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
  • Questions Asked : 100 questions
  • Maximum Marks: 300 marks
  • Time limit: 120 minutes

For EKT

  • Sections covered: Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics
  • Questions Asked : 50 questions
  • Maximum Marks: 150 marks
  • Time limit: 45 minutes

AFCAT Marking Scheme 2024

  • The candidates will score three marks for every correct answer.
  • For every incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted.
  • No marks will be given for an unattempted question.

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch: Candidates age should be between 20 to 24 years as of July 1, 2024
  • The upper age limit for the candidate holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable for up to 26 years.
  • Ground Duty ( Technical / Non-Technical) Branches: Candidates age should be between 20 to 26 years as on July 1, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for For Flying Branch-

  • Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and graduate with a minimum of three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60percent marks or equivalent.
  • BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60 percent marks or equivalent.
  • Candidates who have cleared the Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria for  Ground Duty (Technical) Branch-

  • Candidates with a minimum of 50 percent marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 12 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from a recognized university.
  • Cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India.

    Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by current studies with a minimum of 60 percent marks or equivalent.

Eligibility Criteria for  Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches
  • Passed 12 and Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60 percent marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers

What is AFCAT Short Service Commission?

  • AFCAT Short Service Commission (SSC) is the engagement period for Flying Branch of both Men and Women.
  • The SSC Officers are employed for fourteen years from the date of Commissioning.
  • For both Technical and Non-Technical branches of Ground Duty, The initial tenure for SSC Officers would be for a period of 10 years.
  • An extension of 4 years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.
  • SSC officers are not entitled to a grant of pension

AFCAT Answer Key 2024

AFCAT answer key is not released by IAF since the exam is conducted online. However, the examination authority releases the model question papers and answer keys at the end of the recruitment process. Some of the coaching institutes release memory-based AFCAT answer key after the completion of the exam based on the feedback shared by the candidates.

AFCAT 2024 Result

AFCAT 2 result 2024 will be announced online on the official website. To check the result, candidates need to enter the required login credentials. Candidates qualifying for the online exam are called for AFSB interview. The AFCAT merit list is prepared based on the marks secured in the online test and AFSB interview.
