How to change a Microsoft Account password
- Log into account.microsoft.com on any device.
- Click Security.
- Click change password or on the Password security tile and complete the 2-factor authentication step.
- Type in your current password.
- Type in your new password. The new one must be entered twice in order to confirm that it was typed without any mistakes.
- If an administrator can log in, they can reset your password for you. Otherwise, the computer must be reset, and all data stored on it and programs that are installed will be lost.
Change your local password from another user account
If you Forgot your Microsoft Account Password and can’t remember , reset it
Go to the Reset your password page.
Choose the reason you need your password reset, then click Next.
Enter the email address, ph.no. or Skype ID you used when you made your Microsoft account. This could be any email address, or an email ending in a Microsoft domain like hotmail.com or outlook.com.
Enter the characters you see on the screen (this lets us know you’re not a robot), then click Next.
If you have security info on your account, we’ll send a one-time code to the alternate ph.no. or email address you gave us. After you enter that code on the next screen, you’ll be able to make a new password.
How to reset the password on Windows 10?
Steps to reset the password on a Microsoft account:
Step 1: Go to account.microsoft.com on any Microsoft device and click on ‘Sign in’.
Step 2: Fill in your account’s email address and tap on ‘Next’.
Step 3: Select ‘Forgot password’. You will have to answer a few prompts to verify your identity.
Step 4: Now, enter a new password and click on ‘Next’. Your password is now reset and you can proceed to sign in as usual.
How to Change Your Current Microsoft Account Password When You Remember It?
- 1. Login into your Microsoft account at https://login.live.com.
- 2. Click “Change Password” in the “Password and Security Info” section.
- 3. Type your current password and enter the new password in both “New password” and “Reenter password” fields.
- 4. Click “Save”. Now your password has been changed.
